Greetings music lovers! As most of you know, I hear hundreds of amazing songwriters each month via my ListenLocalsd.com showcases (which are free and open to the public) and it's my pleasure to present the best of the best to Flawles each month, this month being no exception. I was recently introduced to Katie Christine Smith at Dublin's Square where I co-host an acoustic showcase every Monday with Astra Kelly of KPRI's Homegrown Hour. I had heard Katie's music briefly on Myspace but was completely blown away hearing her live. She's into peace and love, but not the tree-hugging hippie kind...Katie is spiritual and her music is a unique reflection of her faith in God and her outlook on life as seen through the eyes of a young women. After her set I learned it was her first time playing in a bar, which was a HUGE surprise, she had such confident stage presence. I also learned that she is an elementary school teacher and was planning a trip to Bolivia for a few months to help the children there. Katie's back and we're looking forward to having her play again at Dublin's Square at 4th and Market downtown on July 28th.
